Description
I chose an older gentleman as my subject for my first ever carved portrait. I wanted a challenge and thought it should be something different, not the usual beautiful woman, such a common though worthy subject. He supplied the challenge and I believe I’ve met it. His distinguished, thoughtful gaze seems detached or introspective, as if invariably returning to his past, possibly with regret but hopefully with a quiet resolve.
Hand carved in Red Oak hard wood.
